The Global Voices Asia Pacific Summit 2019 is a platform to gather concerned digital activists and their partner organizations to share their experiences, gain knowledge, and form new collaborations.
The Summit will address new techno-political challenges to cross-border dialogue and digital rights in the Asia-Pacific region. We will bring together Global Voices community members, citizen media organizations, activists, journalists, academics, technology experts and policymakers from the Asia-Pacific region to discuss our common concerns and share our knowledge about issues related to conflict and peace, internet rights and activism, digital security and privacy, digital divide and developmental challenges.
The Summit will address new techno-political challenges to cross-border dialogue and digital rights, including:
- The rise of state-directed online populism
- The new technology of censorship and surveillance
- Rebuilding cross-border public sphere
In addition to discussions and talks, the Summit will organize training on new digital tools and communications security.
Here is a tentative schedule (will be updated gradually):
- May 30-31: GV partner and network building workshop
- June 1: unconference
- June 2: Public Summit
